| Bio: | Why "The Red Pen"? I'm an editor of my own writing and other people's. Often I change, change and change again what I write. "Make it better or leave it alone!" could be my battle cry. Often writing is a war for me, to struggle with the enemy contentment and endeavor to drag from the depths of myself that which I desire to share with others. All right, you caught me. Mostly, it was the joke of friends, but I have taken it to heart. I've been online since 1993. AOL was my primary isp until recently when we got cable. I finally gave up AOL in 2004 though I'd been a Community Leader Volunteer there since 1994 when AOL had lobbies with Letter names rather than numbers and gave us 2 hours for every hour we volunteered. Ten years was long enough. I'm a Christian. By that I mean that I consider Christ Lord of my life, the Bread of Life and Savior of my soul. I welcome questions on this, if you're curious, and will answer as best I can. I'm married. I have THE most wonderful spouse in the entire world. One who loves me no matter how much of a jerk I can be. Believe me, I can be the biggest jerk on the planet. Being a Christian doesn't automatically make me sweet or perfect. I am a work in progress. I'm a parent. I have 3 fantastic, smart, beautiful children. I also have four cats. Yeah I feel like they're my kids too. We had five, but the momma cat died and left us with her 4 sons in 2002. I've lost people. In 1984 my mother died of heart failure. In 1996 I lost my father to cancer. In 2003 I lost my mother-in-law. She was a great lady and I loved her like a mom. Death is just a doorway, but the tears can be as fresh today for Mom as ever, despite the time. I'm an artist. I've been sketching, painting and doing strange things with wood since I was very young. I love to sing, but I have no training. I pretend to play the piano and the ukelele and sometimes the guitar. I'm a writer. This doesn't mean I can spell. Writing is a different sort of artwork. Like Thoreau, I write novels without legs, lots of poetry, science fiction, fantasy stories and music. I collaborate on roleplay settings and characters with other role-players which is some of the most satisfying writing I've ever done. You may find links to some of the places I write in my journal. The people I've listed as 'my friends' are either people I have met in person or journals I have found of interest to read. Most I've recieved permission from to list as friends or have listed them so they might read something I've marked as 'friends only' in my preferences. Some posts I write, I do so for input from those who's words I respect and not the live journal community at large. Therefore, my friends list is something of a fluid thing.
